TAYLOR HART DESIGN MAKES OVER A PROPERTY WITH STUNNING WATER VIEWS IN ANNAPOLIS.

WATERFRONT REDO

Houses and families grow up together, and in the process, inevitably some changes need to be made.

When the Annapolis couple bought their shingle-style waterfront home on Little Aberdeen Creek in the Ferry Point neighborhood of Maryland’s capital city, their three daughters were young.

imageIn the beginning, the girls were more than content to sleep in the same bedroom and to spend their idle time playing with their toy horses in the sunlight that lived on the home’s expansive second-floor landing.

As they grew, the girls were longing for their own space. That’s when Deanna Gurri, of Taylor Hart Design, stepped in to assist, ultimately seamlessly carving out extra bedroom space without neglecting the beautiful post-and-beam structure of this 4,500-square-foot post-and-beam house, which is in a traditional New England Coastal style.

imageEventually, the project expanded to include renovating the kitchen, enclosing an uncovered breezeway to create a much-needed mudroom, upgrading all the rooms, overhauling the back porch, adding a covered exterior entertainment area and revamping the hardscape of the swimming pool.

Details, such as the window seat that was added to the den, and the banquette that sits in the dining room, bring added functionality.
