Lavina Baldota works to preserve India's textile traditions, connecting artisans' heritage to modern audiences while inspiring future generations
-

For those who look closely, the warp and weft of a fabric tell stories far beyond the threads themselves. They embody collaboration, carry history in their patterns, and showcase the mastery of those who create them. Through her work, Lavina Baldota shines a light on these deeper meanings, making textiles a living, breathing legacy of India. As head of Corporate Social Responsibility at the Abheraj Baldota Foundation, Lavina has become a vital force in bringing Indian craft into the spotlight. In 2022, she launched Sutr Santati: Then, Now, Next, an exhibition series that has since become a driving force for textile revival. "Sutr Santati is a unique platform that breaks down hierarchies, bringing students, artisans, designers, and weavers together under one roof. It also unites institutions that used to work in silos, creating a collective voice for India's diverse textile community," she explains.
