Babu Cherian shares his journey of what began at the threshold and matured beyond that makes BCA Architecture the deeply contextual practice it is today
Babu Cherian recalls his childhood home with a gentle awe. "It sat right in the heart of Kozhikode and spoke the language of the land with contemporary flair," he begins. The principal architect at BCA Architecture a practice known for celebrating vernacular Keralan sensibilities with a modern twist - adds, "Next door sat a classic old-world structure that held the lifestyle of its inhabitants with such ease that it used to make me wonder." Between the two he found his earliest lessons: that culture, climate, and context are not just influences on architecture, but the very bones of it.
