A mother-daughter duo keeps the historical tradition of embroidered leather alive through Cavallo India.
-
" The word 'cavallo, meaning 'horse' in Italian, symbolises a free-spirited being that moves in harmony with nature. It embodies freedom, strength, beauty, and the quiet confidence of self-awareness. These qualities form the foundation of Cavallo India's identity," explains Devya Singh, the founder and creative director of the artistic leather and soft furnishings brand which she started over two decades ago.
Just shy of its 25th year of existence, her daughter, Noor Singh, now follows her mother's footsteps to evolve the idea of craft in India with hand embroidered leather tapestries, decorative wall panelling, leather sculptures, and bespoke interior design solutions that supersede today's manufactured offerings. "Through every original creation, we seek to reflect a spirit that is curious yet grounded, elegant yet dependable much like our muse, the horse, itself," adds Noor, the design director and head of R&D and innovations. This story is from the December 2025 edition of Livingetc India.
