INTERIOR DILEMMA
Ireland's Homes Interiors & Living Magazine
|August 2023
Interiors Association member Annemarie Van Vrede of Design by Van Vre-de, Interior Project Management, offers her expert advice.
Q I love staying in boutique hotels with luxurious bedrooms. How can I transform my own bedroom into a similarly restful retreat?
A hotel bedroom has to tick a lot of boxes. It has to be luxurious. It has to be elegant. And it has to be timeless. I design a lot of hotel interiors and, when I hear people requesting the room they stayed in the last time, I know I've won them over! It's natural for people to want to recreate the hotel experience in their bedrooms at home, but there are differences as well as similarities. A home is not a hotel! As an interior designer, my job is to sit down with my clients, listen to their intentions, and discuss their needs. You might like the plushness of a hotel bedroom but you also have to think of the practicalities.
