It’s time to plan your seasonal garden and tackle gardening issues head on with the help of a new book by Diarmuid Gavin and Paul Smyth.
-
Gardening Together is a new month by month guide for your garden by garden designer, TV presenter Diarmuid Gavin and Paul Smyth, plantsman, and propagator. A few years ago both started working together and this led to their podcast called Dirt and now this book, which takes you on a month by month, year long journey from January to December and everything you should be doing and looking out for in your garden.
In this extract from the book, the pair focus on the fact that due to climate, the way you garden is having to change and they focus on the subject of drought.
DROUGHT
'We have to get used to the fact that we will soon be required to garden in a different way, planting for drought conditions and making every effort to conserve water. Our climate is changing. Look back over the weather patterns for the past fifty years and this becomes apparent. Every few years we have official droughts and hosepipe bans and our winters have become milder and more sporadic, with some very warm winters and the occasional deep freezes.
