HARDWARE SELECTIONS CAN ELEVATE YOUR BATHROOM IN A SPLASH

- ANDREA TOMAZ

FINER DETAILS

Creating your dream bathroom comes with many decisions. Layout and large fixtures are paramount, but so too are all the smaller hardware choices. We're talking about taps, spouts, towel rails, hooks, knobs and more - everything down to the loo roll holder! When all hardware is united or 'speaks' to each other, design magic happens. Your envisioned bathroom will come to life, adding beauty and value to your entire home. We spoke to designers about some of their favourite hardware choices to help you harness form, materiality and style with clear purpose and confidence. Perfect matches work but so do conscious contrasts and mixed finishes. By tapping into a cohesive hardware plan, you'll ensure your bathroom's transformation is truly exceptional.

Classic charmer

Art Deco style is celebrated in this handsome ensuite designed by Lisa Burdus. Matching bronze Perrin & Rowe hardware from The English Tapware Company pulls the space together and amplifies its overarching character. The 'Deco' shower set, towel warmer and lever-handled wall valves are teamed with a three-hole basin set with levers and large reeded cabinet knobs, both in English Bronze. Ocean & Merchant's Carrara marble and Nero Marquina tiles in a chequerboard pattern complement Porter's Paints Bay Leaf cabinetry. The palette here faithfully echoes that of the main bedroom (which has existing green carpet and black trim that the clients kept). "Rather than fight it, we decided to go with it for the ensuite, so it unified both spaces," says Lisa.

Deck the DOORS

The front door is our favourite place to make a festive first impression, and it doesn't have to involve a traditional wreath. From fragrant foliage and whimsical florals to ribbons, bells and pine cones, there are countless ways to deck your doorway in seasonal style. It might even be the perfect time to adorn your door with a fresh coat of paint. Here, we've matched Wattyl's most beautiful hues with decorative touches to ring in the holidays in style – and keep the cheer shining long after the season ends.
