A stylish dwelling that's cool and contemporary with relaxed sophistication

A contemporary Australian home that seemingly hugs the water’s edge is a visual tapestry of charm and good taste. The dwelling was constructed on undeveloped land, and with a blank canvas stretched out before them, the team at MAEK Residences rolled up their sleeves and went to work. The homeowners wanted to create a series of warm and welcoming spaces, with pops of colour and understated style. Kathryn Sims, creative director at MAEK Residences, says the brief for the interiors was for a contemporary Australian look and feel. “They wanted it to favour colour and personality over anything neutral or plain,” she says. “Spaces needed to feel cosy and lived in, with nothing too sparse or minimal.”

The three-bedroom, three-bathroom home, with a powder room, is an alluring modern abode with loads of visual appeal. The design is coastal cool, a poetic reflection of its enviable riverside locale. It’s luxurious, with generously proportioned multiple living areas along with a study, cellar, alfresco area looking out over the water and a three-car garage. There’s ample room for the couple who live there, as well as family members, and when friends drop by, there’s plenty of space to entertain in style.
