Find the Right Pet Pros
Good House Keeping - US
|January - February 2024
Deciding on a new veterinarian, boarding facility or trainer can be stressful. Here's how to get the pick of the litter.
Choosing the trusted people who care for your pet can feel overwhelming, especially if you've recently moved or just welcomed a new furry member to the family. Luckily, the criteria to prioritize for your pet's caretakers are similar to what's top of mind for your own. Look for pros who offer services you need as well as for convenience in location, office hours and payment options. And keep an eye out for practitioners who make your pet feel safe.
FIND THE RIGHT VETERINARIAN
Don't wait until an emergency arises to pick your pet's primary medical professional. If you're moving, the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) recommends asking your current vet if they have colleagues to whom they can refer you or getting recommendations from friends or neighbors. If you're getting a new pet, start your research before bringing them home; a vet might even be able to help you choose the right animal for your family and offer advice on helping them adapt to their new digs.
