Don't sit on toilet problems. Take action with these hints for everything from clogs to wobbles.

Q I have a stubborn clog. Any last resorts before I call a plumber?
Try snaking it. It's easy to learn (albeit a little gross) and requires only one special tool: a drain snake (also known as a closet auger or snake). It consists of a long wire coil with a corkscrew-like tip that you feed into your pipes until it encounters obstruction. A drain snake is an excellent tool for unclogging toilets since the protective sleeve ensures that your toilet will not get scratched. Many drain snakes are available in the market, but if the snake is not specifically designed for a toilet, do not use it. Often a 3-ft. toilet snake will do the trick.
