It's the annual locals vs tourists stand-off, but up in the Dales, we're all winners - for now, says Tessa

IN WINTER AND SPRING WE CAN GO ANYWHERE, any time we want, but the summer means changing our routine. Daytime dog walks across the fields (cue cows and sheep grazing) and on the trails and local footpaths (cyclists, hikers, joggers and families out en masse) are to be avoided, given that our reactive Romanian rescue hound's pet hates include ruminants, bicycles, anyone carrying walking poles, people in Day-glo Lycra and children.
