The tones and textures of this Cotswold home — think shades of oatmeal, mushroom and inky blue, layered with weathered timbers, slubby linens, rattan, jute and sheepskin - work a quiet kind of magic, inviting shoulders to drop the moment you step inside.

'I wanted guests to feel instantly at home here,' says Julie-Ann Daniells, who transformed the house into a luxury holiday retreat three years ago. She adds, 'I think that when rooms link seamlessly and the palette carries through, it naturally creates a calming effect.'

Set just outside the picturesque market town of Chipping Campden, the property sits in familiar territory for Julie. 'We lived nearby, in Hook Norton, for 30 years and raised our daughters there. We would often visit Chipping Campden for the shops and cafes,' she recalls. 'When my husband and I moved to Stratford-upon-Avon five years ago, I decided to reinvest some of the proceeds from our former home into this property.'
