Feather stitch is like an open chain stitch and is really versatile - you can stitch it with one strand of thread through to all six strands of thread depending on the effect you're going for! In this project, we're using three strands to create the thorny vine garland wrapping its way around our gnome's tall hat! This stitch works well on curved as well as straight lines. It's helpful to imagine a central line as the main axis for the stitch and a side line, either side of the central line, which determines the overall width of the feather effect.
