-
Each cancers has distinct characteristics, risk factors, and methods of prevention. Early detection plays a crucial role in improving outcomes, which is why understanding these cancers is essential for women's health.
1. Ovarian Cancer: Silent but Deadly Ovarian cancer begins in the ovaries and is often referred to as a "silent killer" because its symptoms can be vague and are easily overlooked. These may include bloating, pelvic pain, and difficulty eating or feeling full quickly. Unfortunately, ovarian cancer is often diagnosed at an advanced stage, when the prognosis is less favourable. Risk factors include age, family history, and inherited gene mutations (BRCA1, BRCA2). Women with a higher risk should discuss genetic testing and preventive measures with their doctor.
2. Cervical Cancer: The Role of HPV Cervical cancer starts in the cervix and is primarily caused by persistent infection with highrisk strains of the human papillomavirus (HPV).
