When suspected human remains are found in bleak marshland, DI Sunil ‘Sunny’ Khan and DCI Jess James begin to unravel a complex web of secrets, as ITV1’s hit cold-case drama Unforgotten returns for a sixth outing.

Penned again by award-winning screenwriter Chris Lang, the new six-part run will see Sunny (played by Sanjeev Bhaskar) and Jess (Sinéad Keenan) cross paths with four new suspects: outspoken TV commentator Melinda Ricci (The Responder’s MyAnna Buring), history lecturer Juliet Cooper (The Crown’s Victoria Hamilton), Afghan refugee Asif Syed (Homeland’s Elham Ehsas) and Martin ‘Marty’ Baines (rising star Maximilian Fairley), an autistic man who lives with his mum, Dot (Some Mothers Do ’Ave ’Em’s Michele Dotrice).

While their lives are seemingly separate, they are intricately bound by the past – as Sunny, Jess and their dedicated colleagues at Bishop Street CID soon discover.

The guest cast list also includes Jan Francis (Just Good Friends), Damien Molony (The Split) and Emmett J. Scanlan (The Tower).

TV Times met up with original cast member Sanjeev, 61, and Sinéad, 47, who joined at the start of the previous series, at ITV’s London HQ to get their case notes…
