IDRIS ELBA on his real-time thriller
HIJACK
NEW FROM WEDNESDAY 28 JUNE, APPLE TV+ THRILLER (FIRST TWO EPISODES FROM 28 JUNE, THEN WEEKLY)
As tough TV detective John Luther, Idris Elba is no stranger to kicking down doors and busting bad guys. But in star-spangled new thriller Hijack, the Golden Globe-winning actor plays a far more cerebral protagonist…
Launching on Apple TV+ this week, the series is set aboard a flight from Dubai to London and sees Idris star as Sam Nelson, a talented business negotiator who, when a gang of villains seize control of the plane, does everything in his power to try to keep his fellow passengers safe and defuse the potentially deadly situation.
‘Sam isn’t a typical action hero,’ reveals Idris, who also serves as a producer. ‘We’ve seen films where the main character is an Army guy or an ex- cop, but we wanted to turn that on its head. Sam is a man with a brain who thinks on his feet, but he’s just as scared as everyone else on that plane.’
