JAY BLADES and SIR DAVID JASON on why they’re getting crafty

He’s one of TV’s most familiar faces, but did you know Sir David Jason is also a crafting enthusiast with a penchant for restoring motorbikes? Well, you’re about to see another side of the award winning Only Fools and Horses star as he teams up with The Repair Shop frontman Jay Blades to celebrate the nation’s love of hobbies for a new BBC2 series.

The 15-parter, David & Jay’s Touring Toolshed, sees the pair travel around the UK, making pit stops at air shows, county fairs, steam rallies and vintage festivals to help crafters with their problem projects.

As self-professed DIY enthusiasts, this is a genius pairing! How did you meet?

SIR DAVID I made a surprise video for Jay when he jived to the theme tune of [BBC1 sitcom] Only Fools and Horses in 2021’s Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special. We met up, got on like a house on fire, and said it would be great if we could find a project to work on together. The rest, as they say, is history!
