The chips are down for Colin Farrell's con-man gambler in a high-stakes thriller

Wild Card

NEW Available: Wednesday 29 October Genre: Thriller

After picking up a Golden Globe in January for his performance as criminal kingpin Oswald Cobb in Sky Atlantic's The Penguin, Colin Farrell ditches the prosthetics this week when he stars in psychological thriller movie Ballad of a Small Player on Netflix.

The 49-year-old actor plays an Irish con man drowning in debt, who passes himself off as an English aristocrat, Lord Freddy Doyle, so he can lay low in Macau, one of the biggest gambling centres in the world and dubbed the Las Vegas of Asia. Having fled there with a stolen fortune, he spends his days drinking heavily and his nights frittering away what little money he has left in the city's bustling casinos.
