Gordon Buchanan heads to Canada's majestic Rocky Mountains for a very personal adventure

Wildlife film-maker Gordon Buchanan sets out to fulfil his lifelong dream of being accepted by a herd of wild horses for his latest BBC2 documentary, Wild Horses, the Rockies and Me.

Buchanan, 53, has felt an affinity with the animals ever since he learnt to ride as a child in Scotland.

'Before horses came into my life, I was unhappy at school and had a difficult home life, he says. "But then I got a job in a stables and being around horses gave me a real sense of trust and empowerment.

Since then, I've always wanted to see horses in the wild.
