Black Mirror revisits the beleaguered crew of the USS Callister in an action-packed new season of the sci-fi anthology

To INFINITY and beyond

NEW SCI-FI

Black Mirror

From Thursday 10 April, Netflix Acclaimed writer Charlie Brooker is lifting the lid on more dystopian dramas as his sinister sci-fi anthology Black Mirror returns for a seventh season on Netflix.

The six episodes feature the likes of Peter Capaldi, Emma Corrin, Chris O'Dowd and Dame Harriet Walter, and once again, each instalment is set to give us unsettling pause for thought about our ever-shifting relationship with technology (see panel, below).

But for the first time, the new run also features a hotly anticipated sequel, as we rejoin the crew of the starship USS Callister, who featured in an Emmy-winning episode of the fourth season in 2017.

In the original, downtrodden Robert Daly (Jesse Plemons) devised a hit online game, Infinity, and secretly trapped clones of his office co-workers - including shy coder Nanette (Cristin Milioti) and brusque receptionist Elena (Milanka Brooks), who he reimagined as a blue alien - inside a twisted Star Trek-esque version of his creation. He then controlled them as the Callister's captain, until they escaped by going through a wormhole into the real game, leaving Robert stranded.
