Paterson Joseph and Daisy Haggard team up as unlikely drug dealers in a darkly comic thriller

NEW THRILLER
Boat Story
Sun & Mon, 9pm, BBC1 (box set, iPlayer)
What would you do if you stumbled upon a stash of drugs worth a fortune on a deserted beach? That’s the jumping-off point for darkly comic Yorkshire-set thriller Boat Story, starring Paterson Joseph and Daisy Haggard.
From the writers of The Tourist, The Missing and Baptiste, the six-part series follows the exploits of odd couple Janet (Haggard), who’s unemployed after a gruesome accident at the factory where she worked, and Samuel (Joseph), an ex-lawyer from London with huge gambling debts, as they try to cash in on the unexpected windfall they find – along with two corpses – on a boat washed up on their local beach.
‘It is about two people who are desperate, for different reasons, and find themselves with a dilemma,’ explains Noughts + Crosses actor Joseph, 59. ‘Do you steal a boatload of illegal drugs and step over the two dead bodies that you find, or do you call the police? They decide to take it and run!’
