Sir Tony Blair is one of the most successful politicians in British history, winning three General Elections and serving as Prime Minister between 1997 and 2007.

Now, the story of his rise to power and time in Downing Street is told in a three-part documentary series that features an in-depth interview with the former PM and contributions from friends, allies and opponents.

This week's opening episode sees Blair elected to Parliament in 1983, becoming the Labour Party leader over a decade later when then-leader John Smith died from a heart attack in May 1994.
