A GHOST STORY FOR CHRISTMAS: THE ROOM IN THE TOWER BBC2
Mark Gatiss' eerie festive tales have become a beloved Christmas tradition, and this adaptation of EF Benson's short story is set to be suitably spine-chilling. Roger Winstanley (Tobias Menzies) is haunted by a dream of spending the night in a friend's home, where a sinister terror lurks - until the night his dreams become reality. Also starring Dame Joanna Lumley, Nancy Carroll and Polly Walker.
THE NIGHT MANAGER BBC1It's been almost a decade, but Tom Hiddleston (left) is finally back as hotelier-turned-spy Jonathan Pine in a new story based on characters from John le Carré's 1993 novel. Resurfacing under the new alias of Alex Goodwin, Jonathan is now an MI6 operative managing a London surveillance team until a run-in with an old adversary leads to shadowy dealings with a Colombian businessman (Diego Calva). Olivia Colman (below) returns as Jonathan's handler, Angela Burr, while Indira Varma, Camila Morrone and Hayley Squires join the cast.
STUFFED BBC1Guz Khan stars in a one-off comedy as Coventry office worker Arslan Farooqi, who receives an unexpected £8,000 Christmas bonus and so decides to take his family to Lapland. But just as his wife Hannah (Morgana Robinson, pictured with Khan), two daughters and brother-in-law are set for the adventure, Arslan discovers the bonus was a mistake and must be repaid immediately...
