Romain's Cece, aglow with magic; below, clockwise from bottom center: Romain, O'Regan, Darius, Moana, Barbieri and Werb

Premieres Thursday, Aug. 31, Hulu
New rule to live by: Stay on your toes! In this delightful and suspenseful fantasy series, hip-hop-loving 15-year-old American Cece Parker Jones (Hailey Melody Romain) is already in danger of being cut from her new spot at the Paris Opera Ballet School (her moves are a bit too expressive!) when she discovers she’s born from a long line of witches, or “Wizens.” Not only that: She’s the Wise One, the most powerful Wizen of all.
“My favorite thing about Cece is her resilience,” said Romain (before the actors’ strike) from the set in the City of Light. “Also, she’s kind of chaotic.” The young dancer needs that strength and whirlwind energy as her worlds of ballet and magic collide.

THE ROAD
“I'll be honest, I wasn’t exactly dying to do another singing show,” admits Blake Shelton, who was a coach on The Voice for 23 seasons before departing in 2023. So why did the country superstar want to join a brand-new competition series? “[Executive producer] Lee Metzger and I started kicking around this idea: What if we built a show that actually looked like what it takes to make it as an artist?” Shelton explains. “Sleeping on buses, playing for crowds that didn’t buy a ticket to see you, writing songs that may or may not pay the bills. That’s real.”
