A NEW NETFLIX DOCUSERIES UNCOVERS POTENTIAL WITNESSES AND POLICE DISCOVERIES THAT JURORS IN THE FOOTBALL LEGEND’S EPIC MURDER TRIAL NEVER GOT TO SEE. PEOPLE TALKS TO SOME OF THE KEY PLAYERS

Three decades on, the fallout from the shocking 1994 killings of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman in an upscale area of Los Angeles, followed by the sensational trial where Nicole’s ex-husband, football legend O.J. Simpson, was acquitted of the double murder, is still fresh in the minds of those involved in the case. In American Manhunt: O.J. Simpson, a new docuseries premiering Jan. 29 on Netflix, prosecutors and members of his famous “dream team” of defense attorneys relive touchstone moments in the deeply flawed prosecution that ended in a verdict that stunned—and divided—the nation. It focuses on what never made it to the trial: clues photographed by police—including hastily opened first-aid supplies found in an open cabinet in Simpson’s bedroom, an empty knife box in his bathroom and still-damp clothes in a washing machine—as well as potential witnesses for the prosecution. Could their testimony have led to a conviction? “The audience gets to listen to witnesses who were not called and consider evidence,” says director Floyd Russ, 40. “I want them to feel like the jury.” People spoke to potential witnesses and a friend of Simpson’s who never appeared in court.
