THE STAR OF NETFLIX'S A MAN ON THE INSIDE IS TACKLING HIS LATEST ADVENTURES WITH GRATITUDE AND WIFE MARY STEENBURGEN BY HIS SIDE

-  JOELLE GOLDSTEIN

TED DANSON I'M NOT SLOWING DOWN!'

To hear him tell it, Ted Danson has found "heaven on earth" in nearly every aspect of his life. "People think there's a shelf life to creativity and contributing to life.

There isn't," he says. That's why the actor, 76, has found so much joy in his newest role, as a widower and retired professor who becomes an undercover spy at a retirement home in Netflix's A Man on the Inside.

Between his acting career, a new podcast and his favorite roles, as husband, father and grandfather (he married actress Mary Steenburgen, 71, in 1995, and they have four kids and four grandkids between them), Danson is looking forward to a busy future. "Life doesn't end until it ends, so keep going," he insists. "The way you engage life is an inspiration to those younger."

In addition to reuniting with The Good Place showrunner Michael Schur, what drew you to A Man on the Inside?

We get to explore aging, memory loss. All those things that sometimes we're afraid to talk about, the show

broaches with a tenderness and a seriousness still contained in a lighthearted, joyful way. I'm so happy to be part of that because I'm 76, and I get to be part of this conversation, which is becoming more and more of my conversation.

ALISON ROMAN Roasted Chicken With Crushed Olives

‘This chicken has far too few ingredients to be as complexly flavored as it is, but that is the magic of vinegar, crushed briny olives, fresh garlic and lots of chicken fat,’ says the author of the new cookbook Something From Nothing.
