A SALUTE TO THE STARS WHO LEFT US THIS YEAR
-
DIANE KEATON Actress & Director, 79
"I worked with her on both [the 1991 TV movie] Wildflower and [the 1990 CBS Schoolbreak Special episode] 'The Girl With the Crazy Brother'she directed me-and she was just so immediate, so alive and so generous.
She had such an incredible vision for beauty and design and photography and art and music. She was so effervescent, with no pretenses and very much her own person. And what an actress! If you watch Reds, Looking for Mr. Goodbar, Annie Hall or The Godfather-I mean, her acting is incredible.
I used to ditch school so I could see Reds." -PATRICIA ARQUETTE
ROBERT REDFORD Actor & Director, 89 "He and my dad [Paul Newman] had two great movies together [1969's Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and 1973's The Sting], and that was a really strong bond. I think that's what brought them together.
He was also a real catalyst in Dad's interest in environmental issues because Bob was already ahead of the game.
He was a good influence on my father. Bob was a quiet philanthropist. He supported a lot of stuff, but he wasn't flashy. Dad didn't like noisy philanthropists. He was a real sounding board for Dad....
He was just a regular guy who had a very strong interest in the environment.
He was a good one." -NELL NEWMAN
ANANDA LEWIS TV Personality, 52The woman once dubbed “the hip-hop generation’s reigning It girl” hosted MTV’s Total Request Live and her own short-lived talk show, bringing smarts and relatability to everything she did.
