Maggie Rogers is cheerfully peeling off her undereye mask patches as she starts a Zoom interview. Pinch-me moments like that have become increasingly common for Rogers since 2016, when her song “Alaska” left Pharrell Williams, who was visiting her NYU music production class, speechless in a viral video. In the years since, the singer-songwriter, 29, found fame with pop and rock hits like “Light On” and “Want Want” and earned critical acclaim, including a 2020 Grammy nod. She has also earned—and hit the stage with—more famous fans along the way, including Madonna and Joan Baez.
