‘These are classic chocolate chip cookies that have been given a macabre makeover,’ the former Great British Baking Show star says about the ‘demon-like teddy bears’ included in her cookbook The Little Gothic Bakeshop. ‘Chocolate chip cookies are not ones that are often decorated, but I think these look the part’
1½ cups (about 6⅜ oz.) all-purpose flour
½ tsp. baking soda
½ tsp. fine sea salt
¼ tsp. baking powder
½ cup (4 oz.) salted butter, softened
½ cup granulated sugar
½ cup packed light brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 large egg
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips, divided
Red luster dust
Royal icing or white cookie icing
Red liquid food coloring (optional)
1. Preheat oven to 375°. Line 2 baking sheets with silicone baking mats or parchment paper.
