Public Servant Melissa Hortman was Speaker of the Minnesota House for six years.
Before dawn on June 14 in a suburb of Minnesota's Twin Cities, state senator John Hoffman, 60, and his wife, Yvette, 59, answered their door after someone claiming to be a police officer rang the bell. Security footage released by authorities reveals the chilling sight: a man wearing a black tactical vest and a realistic-looking mask. He opened fire on the couple, hitting them a combined 17 times, before fleeing.
