Samsung Odyssey Neo G8

Can one screen do it all?

ON PAPER, the new Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 looks like one heck of a gaming monitor. This 4K beauty runs at up to a 240Hz refresh rate, packs a mini-LED backlight with 1,196 zones, can hit 2,000 nits of brightness, and achieves a 1ms response time. Numbers like that don't come cheap, but at $1,299, the Neo G8 isn't quite as pricey as you might expect.
On the flip side, potential buyers should bear in mind the relatively tight 1000R curve on the VA panel in this 32-inch 16:9 aspect screen. Curved gaming screens aren't for everyone, and they tend to work better on larger displays, such as the 55-inch Odyssey Ark (see review, Jan 2023 issue). You may also want to factor in the G8's lack of USB-C connectivity, which is a conspicuous omission.

WE ALL KNEW what was coming at CES: a bunch of graphics cards from AMD and Nvidia. They were pretty much exactly as predicted, albeit with some surprises. AMD managed to botch the launch of its RDNA 4 cards, while Nvidia played 3D chess with the pricing of its new RTX 50 cards.
