iOS 26 brings a new look and new features

Where to start with iOS 26? Apple's iPhone operating system received one of the largest updates at a jam-packed WWDC, and it could be the most significant software change in recent years.

Before we dive into the features, there's a new name to contend with. Out is iOS 19, replaced by a year-based naming scheme, with iOS 26 being the first entry. This should make it easier to remember when a particular version was released, and now that macOS is following suit, there will no longer be a mismatch between the two systems. Like when Apple renamed OS X to macOS, the intention is to ensure consistency across Apple's platforms.
