Use a range of artificial intelligence tools as a springboard to creativity

Master AI in Photoshop

In a recent Group Test (#MF411), we put six photo-editing apps head-to-head to see which had the best artificial intelligence (AI) features. The 'hands-down' winner was Adobe Photoshop 2025 due to the power of its tools. Photoshop (from £9.98/month) uses Adobe Firefly - a generative AI tool - to speed up a host of traditional photo-fixing tasks, such as removing unwanted objects, replacing skies, or isolating a subject from their background.

As well as speeding up traditional fixes, Adobe's generative AI can be used in more fun and creative ways, such as changing the time of day (or even the season) of a pic. You can use AI to coax a smile from a pouty model and 'persuade' a shy subject to make eye contact. You can also change a subject's outfit or conjure up a new hat simply by describing it. Photoshop's AI-powered results aren't always perfect (especially when manipulating faces), but here are some fun AI techniques for you to experiment with. George Cairns
