Customise toolbars in macOS

The toolbars in Finder and many of the apps built into macOS, offer plenty of useful options, but they also have a good number you may never use and some stark omissions. Wouldn't it be great if you could select items in Finder and click a Delete button to remove them or select AirDrop to share? You may even desire a button to burn files and folders to a CD or DVD. Well, all these functions are actually available if you just know where to look...

The toolbars of many builtin Mac apps are customisable - in Finder alone, you can add 11 items, including a New Folder function and Quick Look. Those controls can be included in addition to - or as a replacement for - the default set of toolbar items, but you don't need to stop there. In Finder, we'd also suggest selecting View > Show Path to display the current file path, and View > Show Status Bar to show a summary of the number of files and folders you can see.
