Apple makes it easy to keep everything on a device age appropriate

- Carrie Marshall

Control your kids’ apps and services

In an ideal world, we'd all be able to go online safely and securely. But, of course, it’s not an ideal world, and for kids especially there are lots of inappropriate, disturbing and sometimes even dangerous things they can access via apps and web browsers. The good news is that Apple makes it easy to keep them safe while playing games, accessing apps, or messaging and chatting across all their Apple devices.

In this tutorial, we're going to show you how to use those features. In order to set them up, you'll need to do one important thing first. If you haven't already set up a Family group for your Apple Account, go into Settings > Your Name > Family Sharing and invite the kids to join your newly created Family group. You can also create an Apple Account for a child from here. This doesn’t just enable safety; it enables you to set up Ask To Buy, as well as share your purchases and many subscriptions too.

In Settings (System Settings on Mac), click or tap on Family and you'll see a list of the people in your Apple Family group. Choose the person you want to adjust the various safety settings for and you'll be taken to the summary page.
