Tyriq Withers RISING THROUGH THE RANKS

THE BREAKOUT ACTOR IS ONE TO WATCH AS HE ADDS MORE CREDITS TO HIS NAME

Former college football star Tyriq Withers has gone from the sports field to film sets in a few short years. After cutting his teeth in TV series, short films and small movie roles, the 27-year-old has quickly become a big-screen leading man. Recently starring in psychological horror Him alongside Marlon Wayans, as well as in the latest addition to the I Know What You Did Last Summer franchise, he'll next be seen in Colleen Hoover adaptation Reminders of Him, set for release in 2026.

“I don’t know of any other actor whose debut is three studio movies back-to-back-to-back,” Him director Justin Tipping told GQ. “And they’re all different in their own way - he’s a comic relief sidekick in one, he’s the main character in Him and then he’s going on to a very dramatic role in a totally different tone.”

It was only a little more than five years ago that Withers had other priorities. Born in Jacksonville, he grew up with a love for soccer, idolising the greats like Cristiano Ronaldo and Ronaldinho Gaúcho, but that dream was cut short after being dropped from his high-school team – an event he’s since described as “traumatic” to GQ.
