THE STARS DISCUSS THE OUTLANDER PREQUEL SERIES

- • By Kylie Walters

TURN BACK TIME

They say that sequels are never quite as good as the originals, but Jeremy Irvine and Hermione Corfield are proving that adage doesn't have to extend to prequels with their sweeping new series, Outlander: Blood of My Blood.

The pair portray Henry and Julia, the parents of Outlander's Claire (Caitriona Balfe), as the couple fall in love in England during World War I, before being thrust into the harshness of 1700s Scotland, just as their daughter is decades later.

Irvine, 35, and Corfield, 31, joined WHO over Zoom while on location in Scotland, where they are filming the second season, to discuss their firm friendship, the best and worst parts of the job and how the Outlander fan base is reacting to their new series.

You became friends while shooting the movie Fallen. How exciting was it to find out you'd be working together again?

JEREMY IRVINE We made something a decade ago that we don't talk about now (laughs). I was very excited when I heard they were seeing Hermione and started pestering the director.

imageOutlander is known for being a bit spicy. Does being such good friends make it weird filming those scenes?
