Sarah Rowe DOUBLE LIFE

THE MULTI-SPORTS STAR SPENDS HALF HER YEAR PLAYING SOCCER AND THE OTHER HALF PLAYING FOOTY

Growing up in Ireland, Sarah Rowe was the sporty kid. She was into athletics and gymnastics, and played soccer, Gaelic football and basketball, training with the boys. As early as primary school, her potential was obvious, especially to her principal, who was also a Gaelic football coach. “He saw something in me I didn’t see yet,” Sarah, 29, tells WHO.

He took her under his wing, teaching her that she couldn’t always do things her way and helping her become the player she is today.

“He told me I had to be a good runner and be able to kick with both feet, and he got me competing in cross-country, which I really didn’t want to do,” Sarah says with a laugh. “He was hard on me from a young age, but he had a big impact.”

Her family were also huge cheerleaders, and by age 15, she was representing her country in soccer as well as playing Gaelic football at a high level.
