SUSAN'S LAUNDRY BUSINESS REQUIRED PERSISTENCE - BUT, BY SCALING IT, SHE'S CLEANING UP

- Emma Levett

RINSE AND REPEAT

Walking past her spare room, which was piled high with laundry, Susan Toft wished there was a fairy who could spirit it all away and bring it back folded and ironed. On maternity leave from her job in international marketing, she wondered if it was a service she could provide to others.

"I became the original Laundry Lady in 2012," Susan, 46, from the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, tells WHO. "I created a website [with that business name] and had a mobile number, and I picked up washing in my local area and brought it home to my own machine. I've never had a physical job like it before, but the flexibility it gave me was incredible. I could bring my son with me in the car. You can't put a price on that."
