When you think of the world's best beaches, there's plenty that spring to mind, from Sydney's bronzed and bustling Bondi to the shallow shores of Waikiki in Hawaii. But what if there's one that's taken out the top spot in this year's Conde Nast Traveller's Best Beaches in the World list...and it's right here in our own backyard?

PALM-LINED PARADISE

A 30-minute drive from Cairns, peaceful Palm Cove is small, unassuming and utterly picturesque. Leaning palm trees shelter a sandy haven that plays home to dolphins and whales. It's likely this slice of heaven might not have made it onto your radar.

There's obviously something in the water here. Not only does this Far North Queensland holiday spot have a top-notch beach, but it's also home to the famed Reef House, which recently took out the title of best Five Star Luxury Accommodation at the 2023 Australian Tourism Awards.
