The crowd roared when Lewis Capaldi walked out onto the main stage at the Glastonbury Festival on June 27, but it wasn’t the usual cheer you'd hear from the thousands of music lovers. Instead, the 28-year-old received a deafening reception filled with emotion for his return appearance to the Pyramid Stage.

Two years earlier, it was on that same stage that Capaldi, who was diagnosed with Tourette syndrome in 2022, suffered a paralysing attack. He left the stage partway through his act and stepped away from the spotlight for two years to take control of the often crippling disorder that affects his speech and movement.
