Born November 21, 1945, in Washington DC to Laura, a dance school owner, and Edward, a musician and conductor, Goldie Jeanne Hawn was advised by her parents to keep her future dreams for a life in show business in check.

“Expectations are greater than realisation,” Hawn recalled her father telling her, during a chat with Interview magazine, suggesting that he wanted her to be realistic about her talent. “Because if you expect too much, you're not going to be living in the present; you're going to be living in a dream.”

Clearly, her father underestimated Hawn, who performed as a ballerina and go-go dancer before a chance discovery by a talent agent thrust her into superstardom.
