■ Needed to have a cancerous skin lesion removed from his chest.

■ Suffers nerve damage from peripheral neuropathy.

■ Experienced dangerous weight loss that has alarmed doctors calling for an immediate examination.

■ Is prone to bouts of uncontrollable coughing that one internist suspects may be due to hardening of the arteries in his brain.

Biden’s feebleness seems readily apparent in his uneven gait and frequent befuddlement. In recent months he has appeared lost in public, mixed up members of his own Cabinet,  confused the identities of foreign leaders, given deluded accounts of his past and even forgotten a key congressional ally had recently died.
