Taylor Swift's love songs have been staples at wedding receptions for years. And the singer-songwriter herself has served in at least three friends' bridal parties, donning a pretty dress and walking down the aisle to support actress Lena Dunham in 2021, high school bestie Abigail Anderson in 2017 and childhood pal Britany Maack Taylor was maid of honor - in 2016.

But she's always the bridesmaid, never the bride. It's a reality that's been weighing on Taylor, says a source. She started seeing English actor Joe Alwyn in the fall of 2016 in the wake of her breakups with two other U.K. natives actor Tom Hiddleston and DJ-producer Calvin Harris - but after all this time, there's still no wedding ring on her finger. "Taylor has hung in there for almost six years, and she and Joe -have yet to announce an engagement," says the source. "Friends are buzzing that her and Joe's relationship is all but over. There are even whispers he may be getting ready to dump her because he's just not ready to settle down for good. Instead of celebrating their anniversary this fall, Taylor could find herself heartbroken from yet another failed romance."

She's shared her dream of settling down and having a big family. A decade ago, Taylor confessed in an interview that though she wasn't ready at 22, she someday wanted to have "a bunch of [kids] running around, minimum four...the idea of pouring everything you are into another person when you become a parent has always been amazing to me." She thinks Joe, 31, would make a fantastic father, says the source.
