King Charles thrilled crowds gathered inside the grounds of Windsor Castle as he took part in the first Garter Day ceremony of his reign
His Majesty wore the signature feathered velvet cap and robes of the Order of the Garter while processing into St. George’s Chapel, watched by thousands who had applied for tickets to witness the spectacle.
Under glorious sunshine, he and Queen Camilla – wearing her Garter robes over a white dress by Bruce Oldfield – smiled at the 2,900 spectators lining the route as they walked down Castle Hill behind the Prince of Wales, the Duke of Edinburgh and the Princess Royal.
DOTTED DELIGHT
Also watching were the Princess of Wales, elegant in a black-and-white polka-dot dress by Alessandra Rich and complementary Philip Treacy hat, and the Duchess of Edinburgh, who wore a striking floral dress by Emilia Wickstead and a headpiece from Jane Taylor.
