Hello! Canada
|April 08, 2024 (Issue 916/917)
Actor, singer and devoted dad Ricky Martin reflects on his journey from "Livin' la Vida Loca" to Palm Royale
Twenty-five years after shooting to global fame with a certain catchy hit record, Ricky Martin continues to win new fans - not just with his music but with his acting talents, too.
The Puerto Rico-born "Livin' la Vida Loca" singer - who earned an Emmy nod for his work in 2018's The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story is now starring in Palm Royale, a hilarious dramedy that centres around social climber Maxime (Kristen Wiig) angling for a place among the society set of y culture and lage to the ces - it is part I will always proud of Palm Beach, Fla., in 1969. Laura Dern and Carol Burnett, who has Ricky's uptight bartender character, Robert, as her caretaker, are among the A-list cast. The chance to be in such fine company and dabble in comedy - not to mention go shirtless for much of the show! - was irresistible to the leading man, who's come a long way from his boy-band days with Menudo and acting gigs on the likes of soap opera General Hospital.
