The Barenaked Ladies frontman on fame, family and flying high (literally!)
For Ed Robertson, humour is a tool that helps with the tough stuff. The lead singer and co-founder of Barenaked Ladies is known for his witty lyrics and cheeky delivery, but that’s always been his way of getting deeper.
“It’s how I relate to my kids, to my wife, to an audience,” says the dad of three, who has been married to Natalie Herbert since 1994. “I’ve got a lot of serious things to say, and humour is an icebreaker.”
The iconic Canadian band recently released its EP In Flight - Carry On, which features acoustic renditions of standout tracks from their 2023 album. Before taking off on a North American tour this summer - which includes a hometown show at Toronto’s Budweiser Stage on July 25 - Ed, 54, chatted with Hello! about his self-care journey, Canada Day plans and the unexpected hobby that keeps him on Cloud Nine.
