The Beatles legend, who had celebrated his 81st birthday just days earlier, was quick to point out to Kate, 41, that the pictures featured in Paul McCartney Photographs 1963-64: Eyes of the Storm were taken “when you weren’t born.”

“Or you either,” he said, turning to his wife, Nancy Shevell, 63, who laughed and reassured him that was not the case.

Taking in the previously unseen collection of photos, Kate asked, “Were there pieces that were very important to you personally?”
