REFLECTING ON THE TOUGH ASPECTS OF MOTHERHOOD HALLE BERRY REVEALS HOW SHE GOT INTO THE HEAD OF A TROUBLED MUM IN HER TERRIFYING NEW ROLE

As a busy working mother of two children, Halle Berry knows the pressures the job entails.

After all, the 58-year-old star is raising Nahla, 16, and Maceo-Robert, 11, as a single parent, meaning all the decisionmaking falls on her shoulders – and she is well aware of the responsibilities that brings.

“I battle almost daily with decisions I have to make,” she says. “I ask myself: ‘Is this the right thing to do? Is this the best for my child? Am I doing better than what was done for me? Am I breaking the generational trauma cycles of my growing? Am I doing exactly what my mother did?’

“I think that’s very relatable, especially for other mothers and other women.”

The actress, who worked her way to the top of Hollywood with roles in hit films such as Swordfish and Monster’s Ball – for which she became the first African-American woman to win an Academy Award for Best Actress in 2002 – is now one of the industry’s most bankable stars.

But although Halle, who also portrayed a Bond girl in Die Another Day, often plays glamorous parts, she wasn’t afraid to go back to basics for her terrifying role in her latest film, Never Let Go.
