Putting on a united front, the King and Queen and the Prince and Princess of Wales hosted international guests at Buckingham Palace for the annual Diplomatic Reception.
Their Majesties posed alongside the future King and Queen in the 1844 Room, before moving to the state rooms to welcome more than 500 ambassadors, high commissioners and diplomats at the tiara and white-tie evening.
The Queen looked regal in a floor-length cream embroidered evening gown by Fiona Clare and the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara, a favourite of Queen Elizabeth II. The tiara, worn by Elizabeth in her accession photographs, was a wedding gift from her grandmother, Queen Mary, when she married Prince Philip in 1947.
